A note home from Alex on his first day in Croatia...
Hi y'all!
After a very long 24 hours of traveling (2 days with the time change) a very disoriented Alex arrived in Split, Croatia where he was collected by his 2 great friends right outside the customs area. From there we went north 10 minutes to explore a little town called, Trogir, that they had heard about. The old stone buildings and a castle right on the Adriatic sea really brought the awareness that I was back in Europe. We had lunch at a small pizzeria where the owner came out and shook all our hands and talked with us briefly, as we were the first ones there for lunch...at 230pm. Within an hour, the whole outside had filled up.
While pretty exhausted, I made a decision to stay up until Brian and Jenni went to bed so that I could try and kick my jet lag in the butt. We played cards until midnight, and I held my own despite being a zombie. I slept well and woke up this morning at 930 to a symphony of birds a half hour before these guys. There is a nest above the beach-view porch, outside my bedroom.
This morning we went for a run through the forest and wild flowers on a trail above the sea. So beautiful!
Now we are back at the house and Putz and Jenni are tag-teaming a veggie frittata while I write this email.
Im very happy to be here and to be with these guys. All smiles!
Love,
Alex
